How the drug will have specificity against the microbe

Problem: Antiviral drugs, antibiotics, and antifungal therapeutics exploit biological differences between microbes to ensure microbial specificity. Such medications target cell structures that are unique to prokaryotic and eukaryotic microorganisms. The antibiotics we use today exploit the differences in eukaryotic and prokaryotic DNA replication, transcription, and translation.

- Choose ONE antibiotic and explain what cell structure or a step in the flow of genetic information is targeted within the cell. How the drug will have specificity against the microbe you have chosen (such as a bacterial or eukaryotic cell) and what function will be inhibited.

- Please cite academic scholarly sources to support your responses.
