How terrible experience logged into your sensory memory

Assignment Directions: You must answer the following questions. It is not enough to answer a question by merely listing facts. You must present a cogent argument related to the model at hand based on your critical analysis of the questions and using appropriate psychological terminology.

Model: You were driving downtown on a stormy day filled with crashing thunder and lightning. As you drove down a residential street you saw Mr. Kenn working in his front garden. When he saw you, he started yelling your name and swinging his rake above his head. That is when his rake was struck by a huge flash of lightning and Mr. Kenn was instantly electrocuted to death in front of your eyes. Mr. Kenn's face and torso caught fire during the electrocution and left his smoldering body smoking in the yard. As you tried to leave the downtown area the Firetrucks, Paramedics, Rescue Helicopters, Ambulances, and heavy traffic have made it really hard for you to find your way out of the area and back home.

1) How was this terrible experience logged into your sensory memory, and short term or working memory?

2) How might have you used the availability heuristic and trial and error to make your way home?

3) As you aged, how did repressed memories play into your experience of this tragedy and what types of retrieval cues might bring this information back into your conscious memory?
