Step I: Understand Why You're Completing This Activity
As you learn more about the medical field, you'll encounter an enormous amount of facts and details. Learning to organize and categorize information accurately will help you throughout your career. That's why, in this activity, you'll create an chart of common medical conditions and treatments.
Step II: Choose Your Organization Method
Decide how you will create an chart. You can use art supplies, such as posterboard and markers. Or, if you want to apply your computer skills, try word processing software that allows you to make charts, or use spreadsheet software.
Step III: Create an Categories
No matter which method you use, your chart should include the following categories:
i. Name of Medical Condition
ii. Treatment for Medical Condition
iii. Parts of Medical Term (Roots, Prefixes, Suffixes, etc.)
iv. How Term Matches Meaning of Condition and Treatment
Complete the chart for at least five medical conditions. If a term has a common abbreviation or symbol associated with it, use that as well as the full spelling.
Here's a sample answer to make things clearer. Don't use tuberculosis as one as one of your medical conditions.
