How state may diminish the personal desire to work

Problem: The increase of a state may diminish the personal desire to work. If we know we have a source of food and we don't have to worry about sourcing it ourselves, it is possible that innovation may decrease and we become complacent with the state taking care of that. It could be argued that competition and a lack of resources forces us the work even harder to achieve our life goals. There is also the issue of a fair government. Like Rousseau said, the state can create corruption, an unnatural social hierarchy, and force us to be more competitive just in different ways. It is not guaranteed that the state put in place would ensure, or has the power to ensure, we live in a state of abundance. Provide a critical objection to the above post
