Social Work Values and Ethics Program Transcript Each profession has a code of ethical principles that provides a base for practice. These codes usually focus on professionals' responsibilities to those they serve, to the agencies for which they work, and to society at large. The National Association of Social Workers' (NASW) Code of Ethics sets forth the values, principles, and standards to guide social workers' conduct. NASW adheres to broad ethical principles that are based on social work's core values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, importance of human relationships, integrity, and competence.
