How social justice are seen in the nasw code of ethics

Assignment task:

Globally, social work is understood as a human rights profession, and the related values of the dignity and worth of all persons and social justice are seen in the NASW Code of Ethics. As social work professionals, using a human rights lens enables us to understand the root causes of needs and to respond in a way that empowers communities (Mapp, McPherson, Androff, & Gatenio Gabel, 2019; National Association of Social Workers, 2017). This week, you will analyze how human rights is a part of an organization's mission and the work they are doing.

Note: If you are working in a social services agency, you may use your workplace for this assignment. If you are not presently working in a social work environment, please select a social service agency that has an online presence. Larger organizations (such as the United Way, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Catholic Charities, or Goodwill Industries) will typically have more information available online, which will help you finish this assignment.

Imagine you are working for a social service agency. You have been tasked with reviewing different aspects of your organization to make sure you are in alignment with the human rights legislation. Refer to either the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights or Convention on the Rights of the Child from the United Nations.

Locate articles within the document-individual human rights-that relate in some way to your chosen agency.

Evaluate your agency in the following areas and create a seven hundred to one thousand fifty-word executive summary to provide to your agency's board members.

Mission, vision, or purpose: Does the mission, vision, or purpose statement use any human rights language? How might adopting a human rights perspective in the mission, vision, or purpose statement affect the work of the organization?

Programs and campaigns: any of the programs or campaigns within the agency or community setting use human rights-based concepts? How do human rights show up in the work of the organization or in the community? Are there ways existing programs or campaigns could better advance the human rights of those involved?

Messaging: What does the messaging of your chosen organization or community setting look like? How could you integrate a human rights perspective into the brand or messaging of your chosen organization?
