Problem: In 2016 we lived through an American election campaign in which the eventual winner regularly did not tell the truth. Clearly this did not matter, as he won the election. What barrier to acting ethically do politicians who do not tell the truth face, in your opinion? Put another way, what reasons do politicians who do not tell the truth give for lying? If these barriers/reasons are so accepted by the general population, how might this show that we are living in a post-ethical society? Given your opinion, what actions/decision/conversations can you make to address and/or deal with this society?
