For this interactive assignment, you will take on the role of an HR professional who has been tasked with researching potential areas that have evolved over the past decade. You will create a business case, to be delivered to the director of HR, justifying the value of an area of your choosing.
Select one of the areas above, and evaluate the potential challenges and conflicts of your selected topic.
Your business case must include the following justifications for your area:
• How a diverse workforce drives economic growth,
• Increased market share,
• A more qualified workforce,
• Reduced employee turnover cost, and
• Why the area is necessary for a competitive economy in a global market place.
In your initial post, send an email presenting your business case to the director of HR. Provide a brief summary of why you feel your selected area is critical to the organization's success.

Before beginning this discussion, review this week's readings and Weekly Lecture. Where are the boundaries of HR? How should responsibilities be distributed among local, regional, and global HR units? Why? How should the human resource management responsibilities be divided between the HR functions and local managers? Why?
Examples of areas of responsibilities might include
• salary approvals,
• disciplinary investigations,
• hire/fire decisions,
• performance management,
• expatriate compensation, and
• reward strategies.
