How propaganda uses language, emotions, and bias views

Problem: In Jason Stanley's How Propaganda Works's introduction, Jason discusses how propaganda uses language, emotions, and bias views to manipulate public opinion. He mentions how the United States is know as democratic country and known to be "the land of the free" however, there are many reasons that show that the United States is a democracy in name only and a lot of its policies and laws do not coincide with democractic ideals and values. An example of this could be how the United States has a two party system in which we as the people get to vote and choose our next president for the next term however, we the people don't have a say in who these candidates should be. This decision is made by a whole other institution. In addition to the fact that politicians aren't being chosen by citizens, these candidates must have a certain amount of money donated to their campaign from corporations therefore, candidates are focused on making promises and polices to cater to these corporations rather than policies that can really change the lives of everyday citizens.
