How people view healthcare

Assignment task: Cultural traditions can play a major role in how people view healthcare and how they choose to treat their illnesses. Some cultures distrust modern Western medicine. These cultures choose to use shamans, medicine men and women, herbs, rituals, oils, and acupuncture. Factors along with culture can include economic status, education, and access to healthcare. (Nielsen-Bohlman et al., 2004) At this point I believe most places implement some type of regular cultural competency training upon being hired and annually. I think one of the best ways we can show up and support our patients is flat out asking them what their views are. What they think is going on with their body, what approach they would like to use and then based off of their culture- you can do some research if you're not familiar. This goes hand in hand with patient centered care and shared decision making. (Swihart et al., 2023) Looking for Assignment Help?
