Problem 2: The Summer of 1940 was such a crucial time at the beginning of World War II. Explain the events that occurred during this time. How did German victories in the West affect at least two of the following powers and their actions: France, Great Britain, the Soviet Union, and the United States?
Problem 3: Based on your knowledge of the events surrounding Pearl Harbor, do you see any way that the United States could have avoided or blunted the Japanese attack? What were the major mistakes made by both the US and the Japanese before, during, and after this attack? Speculate on the outcome if some of the mistakes had not occurred.
