Create a 1-2 page essay discussing some of the positives and negatives of westward expansion? For example, what was the relationship between whites and Native Americans like in the second half of the nineteenth century? Between whites and the Chinese? You should be sure to use specific examples and quotes from the primary source documents in this chapter.
Pretend you are a journalist in the 1860s who has been asked to write an article about whether easterners should move to the west.
