Problem: Please clarify, The participants talked about how the methods to assess the clinical situation had changed, both regarding technical assessment and use of measurements and charts, but also how the nurses' clinical judgment influenced the assessment. The sub-groups in this theme were measurements of vital signs, using the charts, and clinical intuition (embodied know- how). Measurements of Vital Signs The nurses reported that the Stop Sepsis Nurse intervention increased their knowledge about importance of systematic measurement of vital signs when they suspected sepsis. It also helped them to put the measurements into a context to better understand the severity of the patient's condition. They specifically mentioned that they were not aware of the importance of respiratory rate as a sepsis predictor before the intervention. However, they also experienced ambiguity between the patient's need to sleep and the need for vital signs measurements, particularly during night-time.
