Consider the fairy tales "Briar Rose" by Grimm Brothers and "Beauty and the Beast" by Jean Marie Leprince de Beaumont and discuss how you see those narratives differently from what you had known. For instance, do you see how certain individuals are able to be powerful in the stories when they may not have been in real life? Also consider the critical essay "Breaking the Disney Spell" by Jack Zipes to analyze the significance of these narratives to culture, the way certain images signal certain situations or ideas and how our media- oriented society may tend toward using certain versions of these narratives.
