How media express ideas and identifies rhetorical strategies

Problem:

Arguments and rhetoric surround us in everyday life, not only through text but through many types of media. Sometimes, such rhetoric and reasoning are difficult to agree with, and even more difficult to question or resist. Choose a piece of audiovisual media that catches your eye - it could be a commercial, a scene from a TV show or movie, an interview or talk show, a radio show, a podcast, a video game, music, a music video or a short episode in a political speech, Expose formal or informal debates, YouTube/Instagram/TikTok influencers and their content, the possibilities are really endless. Whatever you choose, its message and argument should strike you in some way, whether negative or positive. In your second essay, I would like you to discuss the argument or message expressed by your media article.

First, make sure you understand what the argument being made is. It then analyzes how these media express ideas (how does their content and composition indicate what they express?) and identifies rhetorical strategies and appeals to the argument. Remember your lessons on how visual/auditory arguments work and affect audiences. Finally, assess the merits of the media argument and support your claim by referring to other sources that address the positive or negative issues and impacts that the argument has created in our contemporary society. Including your media work, you must use a total of four (4) external sources (so one source is your chosen media and three additional sources).
