Assignment task:
Since the beginning of the semester, we've taken a look at a broad range of media -- books, newspapers, magazines, comics and graphic novels, music, radio, movies, television, video games, and the Internet and social media. With each advance in media technologies, we've seen significant social impacts.
Media affects societal attitudes and behaviors related to race, gender, sexual orientation, and other social issues.
As we look forward to 2030, now less than a decade away, identify and discuss: Please be specific
- social impacts and issues you see emerging as a result of changes in media technology
- how existing and emerging media technologies could be shaped by government censorship
- whether corporate executives concerned about profits and sponsors/advertisers focused on selling stuff will be able to censor content about social issues
- how media convergence and participatory culture (i.e. comments, social media posts, fan fiction, and similar types of content) will affect the discussion of social justice issues in the United States
- the role your generation can/should play in the creation, distribution, and consumption of modern media content
