Assignment task:
This week we discussed social media and its importance in advertising and fundraising. Now it's time for a social experiment, how savvy are you with Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and other social networks? How big is your digital footprint? Let's find out!
1) How many social networks are you on? Roughly what percentage of your social media friends do you know in "real life"? List all the social networks you are active on (at least 1x week):
2) Google yourself. How many results on the first page are really about you? Repeat for Google Image search. How many pictures relate to you? Did anything particularly outrageous, funny or totally opposite you come up?
3) Weighing the pros and cons of social media, where do you fall? Do you think they are mostly positive, mostly harmful, down the middle? Why?
4) How does this relate to you?? Well, if you work your way up through a nonprofit, management is often listed publicly. This means strangers can look at your digital footprint. What do you think about the employer's right to check out an employee's digital footprint before hiring them? How well do you feel you represent your employer?
