How luther writings brought light to the corruption

Assignment task: Need a comment about this

Luther's writings and teaches in a sense brought light to the corruption that was taking place in the Catholic Church. 'Against those who through evil teaching and example ruined Christendom.' Luther's beliefs were based on having the utmost faith and he felt as though the Catholic Churches based their beliefs on indulgences. He wanted the people to know that these actions were wrong. This caused an uproar as some people started to question the Catholic Church. He also believed that the leaders of the Churches should not have so much political power. He believed that priests, popes, leaders of the church, etc. are not powerful enough to pardon one's sins. Especially seeing as though some leaders were not highly educated. In terms of Protestantism/Lutheranism, religion no longer unified Europe. It became a divided nation. It was inevitable. It also brought about more freedom when it came to participating in the religion of their choice. Luther refused to retract his belief for one probable reason "my conscience is captive by the word of God.' He felt as in good conscience it was better to follow what he believed to be right than follow something against one's conscience. He believed it to be dangerous.
