Research Paper Assignment
This research paper is about applying what has been learned from the reading assignments, discussions, and additional research for your topic area as applied to any one or a combination of the following as mentioned in the HBR (2011) managing people: leadership that gets results, use of emotional intelligence, motivation and the set up to fail syndrome. Please apply your research in a logical manner to address a problem or issue of contention around your topic area and organizational behavior.
You will research the concepts we are reading about in HBR (2011) On Managing People and identify organizational behavior with a focus on your selected topic area. The concentration of a topic area to use throughout the course will allow you to gain strength in research and apply the coursework to the current and relevant situations in the workplace, campus life, and/or from your lens as the researcher and manager in your workplace. We will create the research papers (review of the literature) around these subheadings which are in bold. If you want to use other sub-headers, just let me know.
What article or managerial component from the HBR (2011) textbook best relates to the research you are presenting in the paper? This may be a combination of several but when describing the introduction or issues section, please be clear about the relationship to the coursework.
Introduction
Introduce the topic being explored based on your selection at the beginning of the course. (note: through the course you may decide to research the topic differently example perhaps you will explore leadership in paper one and ethics in paper two and learning in paper three - this is a critical thinking course so you own the work). However, you must relate this topic to the readings about organizational behavior and managing people, processes or an issue in some way.
Issue or Problem
What is the issue or problem being researched? Please include stakeholders such as who cares and why this in an important business case, or how a potential solution could benefit society.
What article/articles from the HBR (2011) textbook best relate to the research you are presenting in the paper (this may be a combination of several articles). When describing the introduction or issue section, please be clear about the relationship to the coursework and transition this work into a robust review of the literature.
Literature Review
A review of the literature must use seven academic sources, and at least two must be from the textbook (articles read to date) or videos. You may also use supporting articles provided in the coursework.
What are the findings in the research about how leadership and organizational behavior drives key factors in a given setting or about this topic area that creates the environment of managing others..., such as leadership effectiveness, behavioral characteristics, ethics, or challenges around motivation, and how these two concepts of managing people relate to effectiveness in the workplace. What is the relationship between leadership and motivation?
You may approach the work in a manner that is relevant, makes sense, provides meaning to the work. You may even want to research something that will be useful in your own workplace. There is no set guideline other than this section is a review of the literature that is conceptually the framework of the research from readings and artifacts to create an understanding of leadership and motivation from a scholarly view - not your view. In the summary section, you can discuss your views.
Summary - based on the research completed, what is one learning moment or discovery, or an aha moment that was derived, and how can you use this new information - if at all. Were you able to learn and apply a logical analysis through the literature to support key findings about effectively managing people? Summarize with logical details grounded from your research over the last few weeks.
Format your assignment according to the following formatting requirements:
i) The answer should be typed, using Times New Roman font (size 12), double spaced, with one-inch margins on all sides.
ii) The response also includes a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student's name, the course title, and the date. The cover page is not included in the required page length.
iii) Also include a reference page. The Citations and references must follow APA format. The reference page is not included in the required page length.
