How is your own family history situated in large systems

Assignment task:

How is your own family's history situated within these larger systems of race + geographic space, federal housing policy / lending practices, or gentrification in the Pacific Northwest? For example, maybe your family has always rented homes in particular areas of the city. Or, alternatively, maybe your family owns property, you inherited a home from relatives, or you had help to put down a down payment on a property. Maybe you're not from Seattle -- are their similar systems at play in your hometown? How does all this inform your sense of community and how is this connected to the social construction of race in the US?  Most importantly, what have you learned this week about generational wealth, property ownership, and gentrification and displacement in the Pacific Northwest this week that you'd like to reflect on?  Note: you can choose to define "family" however is most useful/comfortable for you. Assignment Requirements: For your week 8 self-reflection prompt I'd like for you to include at least one example from both documentaries (Priced Out (2017 - 62 min)) & Race: The House We Live in (start at 25 min marker - end; ~ 30 min total)) which helps demonstrate your personal connection to this week's materials and ideas.
