Interest groups play a big role in policy makers decisions on whether or not to pass a new policy. An interest group is a group of individuals or organizations that has a shared concerns and attempts to influence public policy in its favor. A policy maker is defined as someone who creates ideas and plans, especially those carried out by an organization or government. There are some major interest groups in today's society. Some big interests groups are American foundation for AIDS research, American association of retired persons and many more. One way interest groups and policy makers relate to each other is that interest groups sway the option of policy makers. Policy makers may have an idea they want to propose but will look at an interest group and changed or modify their ideas to make it more likable for the public. Another way interests groups and policy makers relate is that interest groups give out information. Interest groups are experts on the idea or concern that their group is based on. Policy makers consult these interests groups to get the best information on the policy or idea they're trying to propose. This is a good idea on the policy maker because it will allow them to make better decisions and try to get their proposed idea to be passed. I feel like interest groups and policy makers have many similarities. Whether its for information on the proposed policy a policy maker is trying to push or whether it is for the sway of public option or even the policy
