Problem:
I think an informatics nurse educator would be beneficial in my community because nurses are the ones to teach their patients on how to use the technologies, but they can't be proficient in the teaching if they don't understand themselves. We use technology daily but without thinking about the in and outs. We can't expect our patients to be willing to use and learn technologies if the people who are suggesting these tools have minimal knowledge in the first place. We are driving care toward these technological advances and we have to obtain the necessary education and efficiency to help our patients, which is why an informatics nurse educator would be beneficial. My nursing practice will change by looking past what technologies are being used and ensuring the patient will benefit, they know how to use technology if warranted, and best practice is being used. I am currently a safety officer in our emergency department and monitor hand hygiene, but in our facility it is strictly observation and having this system would be a game changer. During this course I looked at not only all the aspects and importance of hand washing, but how there are additional tools that will
