1. Directors of the target company must be approached first and a firm offer of a price made on condition that all due diligence work has been completed.
2. Directors 'participation in the communication to existing staff is recommended when breaking the news to staff within target company.
3. Participation by staff should be encouraged to facilitate change, set objectives and timescales for successful integration of systems and staff by the two organisations.
4. Plan for integration e.g. for redundancy, retraining and the integration of two subcultures of workforce from two different organisations.
5. Review and control e.g. feedback over time obtained by staff interviews and observation by management to ensure the change process has been successful.
