Problem: History plays a big part in everyday life and society. We have come along way in History, but things and events that are happening nowadays are still occurring. My definition of history is the documentation of the past all for a better tomorrow. Over the years, history acts like a record keeper. It helps us by preventing and avoiding previous failure or mistakes so that they do not happen again. Documenting the past is done for a better future.
History is considered events that has happened or occurred in the past. The only way we know what has occurred or happened in the past is from, newspaper, movies, history books, classes like Hist 1302, basically using our imagination to the upmost.
The statement that William Burton made "If you do not like the past, change it." is a very strong powerful statement that has strong meaning behind it. Basically the statement is pretty easy to understand, if you do not like the past events that occurred years and years ago, change the things/events that is happening. Like I previously mentioned it is still a lot of things that are occurring in this day and age, that occurred a hundred years ago. A lot of things that are happening is really being disguised. I hear a lot of people say jobs are modern day slavery. Some people may disagree and some may agree, we all have a right to our own opinion.
The message about slavery in the United States, in my opinion is for sure not a secret. The message about slavery has been sent through movies reenactments from these events, and also books. Slavery contributed a huge factor in consumers goods, it was when certain individuals was forced to work for a little of nothing. Slavery caused a lot of commission in the eighteenth and nineteenth century.
