1. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. (2023, May 17). NIH-funded study highlights the financial toll of Health Disparities in the United States. National Institutes of Health.

This source is a government agency article. I know this because the National Institute of Health library is known to provide access to thousands of journals. This article is research written and published by professionals and has citations and lists references. Additionally, the .gov in the URL indicates that this is from a government agency. This source is particularly useful for my research because it provides statistical information regarding how the economy is affected by health disparities. In addition, it highlights the economic burden faced by racial and ethnic minorities which is closely related to the income aspect of my question. I also found this source to be very credible since it is published by NIH, the nation's medical research agency, which is a part of the US Department of Health and Human Services. This means that each story or article is thoroughly reviewed before publication. The source is also recent as it was published last year, which is another reason why I find it to be reliable. I employed several strategies to find my resources for this assignment. I browsed the UMGC online Library and used Google to find many of my sources. However, to pick the best, most reliable sources, I first check the publication date, details about the author(s), and compare the information to other trustworthy sources for accuracy.

2. Robeznieks, A. (2023, June 19). Inequity damages health-and drains the economy. American Medical Association.

This source is a news article, as it was written by a Senior news writer, Andis Robeznieks. News articles are often written with the intention to inform and educate readers on current affairs and events. As the title suggests, this article is written to inform the audience about how "inequity damages health and drains the economy". I found this source to be very useful because it supports my research topic and gives detailed information by analyzing this modern-day issue.

3. Zare, H. (2023). Inequality in Health Systems and Health Outcomes. Healthcare, 11(1), 42. MDPI Healthcare Journal.

This is a journal article, published in MDPI Healthcare journals (Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute). This article is peer reviewed and assessed by an independent editorial board. This is a useful source regarding my research topic because MDPI is among the largest publishers in terms of journal articles. This journal describes several social issues which influence health outcomes. This is a very supporting and credible journal for my topic as it gives a detailed overlook of health disparities in comparison to all other social issues. The research aims to target the audience by highlighting the link between income disparity and poorer health outcomes.

4. Vega, W. A., & Sribney, W. M. (2017, October). Growing economic inequality sustains health disparities. American journal of public health.

This is a scholarly journal article. This has a volume number, publication date and DOI number as well. This journal is from a reliable source as the National Library of Medicine is an official government website. I used Google Scholar to find this source. This is a useful source as it describes how growing economic inequality sustains health disparities. This also analyzes the fundamental causes of poor health outcomes and gives an overview of health equity dilemma with the help of data analysis of survey reports. This journal will be very informative and helpful for my project as it contains data based on research, which will aid in targeting a wider audience.

Consider the sources posted above. Would you consider all of the sources to be credible if you encountered them in a research paper? Would you give more weight to one over another? Why or why not? Give a general response instead of evaluating each source.
