Problem:
Sociology became a discipline during the Industrial Revolution when there was rapid urbanization. Wage labor, the rise of capitalism, and the birth of technology evolved simultaneously "fusing" as foundational components of modern-industrial consciousness. As we begin this course, I'd like you to reflect on what life may have been like before we had technology. We grew our own food, and the weather patterns would be unpredictable, so often we would lose a portion or all of our crops. We paid attention to the natural world using all of our senses, not just visual and auditory and were required to live within the limits placed on us by the natural environment. How has our relationship to the natural world evolved now that we have advance technology? What are the pros and cons?
