Assignment task:
Your response must address the question asked (As with most things, there are those who believe globalization is a good thing and others who believe it is horrible. What do you think? Why? In one or two paragraphs state your beliefs regarding globalization and explain why you believe this); or you can respond with additional information. You can elaborate on the comment, provide an explanation to help a fellow student, or present a point of debate. You can agree or disagree with whatever has already been stated in the thread, as long as you back up your statement.
Here is what you need to respond to:
I believe that overall globalization is a good thing. Although some people can believe that it can be a bad thing and rightly so, there are many more possible benefits if you look at it the right way. Globalization allows countries to exchange goods, services and resources throughout the world. With all of this being spread around it benefits not only smaller countries who have a better ability to produce certain items, but it also benefits the everyday consumers. Like the example in the video, if a company in one country can produce a good for 100$ and then another country brings their product in and they produce it for 75$ this brings a new option to the consumer to go with the cheaper option. Although this does take away from the companies that are in that country and may hurt them, it helps the consumer in that country and can also benefit the country as a whole.
I believe that if you look at globalization based on the positive and negative impacts that it has on a small scale such as in a single country then it can be easy to say that it is a bad thing. However, if you look at it wholistically then you can see that globalization benefits everyone. Another example that would show that globalization is a good thing would be if a country is unable to produce a good or service and another country can then bringing in that good or service would help increase other things within that country. For example, Development of new areas, new investment opportunities.
