Because these reports require outside sources, it is helpful to provide the reader with signal phrases and transitions which introduce hard data, quotes, or other details from sources used in the paper. 2. Using a combination of sentence styles helps the writing flow and allows the reader to follow more easily the writer's train of thought. How frequently do you vary the structure of your sentences? Do you think you give readers a good variety of sentence structures?
