How fast technology is being integrated in the workplace

Assignment task:

Part A) I don't currently hold a position in HR, but over the last weeks, I learned interesting and valuable knowledge from this course. Learning about the different functions of HR such as recruitment, employee relations, and compliance with the law and how they support an organization to learning about the total reward package and how it is designed will help me manage various workplace situations. Even learning about the technology used in HR such as the HRIS. In my future career, I am not sure if I will ever walk through the doors of HR, but I do know that this course gave me the foundation that I need to apply what I learned to facilitate a productive and efficient environment. The most challenging future trend in this field for me would be the use of Al, and other technology used in the field. I do not consider myself to be the most tech-savvy person and with the way technology keeps growing which is a good thing I believe but my main concern is that I may be behind and playing catch-up especially when you consider how fast technology is being integrated in the workplace. Respond by offering suggestions for how they can prepare for the current or future trends that they think will be the most challenging for them. For example, you could address any of the following:

1. What resources or tools do you recommend that they draw from to develop the skills needed for that area?

2. What concepts covered in this course do you think would support them as they navigate those trends in their careers?

3. Do you have any insight in this area based on personal experiences that you can share?

Part B) I have had a great time in this class learning about the many functions of HR. I took this course because I had an interest in HR as a potential career path, and what I've learned has strengthened this interest for me. I was particularly interested to learn about the ways in which HR contributes to the success of the organization. Most business courses I've taken have taught about the importance of goals, mission and vision, and culture of an organization, but this course put the puzzle together to show how HR performs these functions. If I don't end up going into HR, I still feel that understanding the concept of total rewards will be very useful to me when searching for a position and understanding what the company has to offer. Flexible work arrangements and especially remote work are a trend that will continue to grow in the future. I think the most challenging aspect of this shift will be designing and maintaining organizational culture. As discussed in this weeks reading there is far less social interaction with remote work arrangements. This is a challenge that will continue to effect HR in the foreseeable future.
