Describe an experience when someone helped you feel empowered to do something. Also, reflect on how this empowering experience can impact your future work with clients. Prepare for this post by reading Chapter Two in the textbook about empowerment. Consider these questions (you are not required to address each question in your post): What does this Chinese proverb mean to you? Give a person a fish, and they eat for a day; teach them to fish, and they eat for a lifetime. How much did another person do and/or not do FOR you in the empowering situation? How much did the other person's empowerment help you to do things for yourself, EVEN if someone more experienced or familiar could have done it faster, easier, etc.? How can your post demonstrate that you have a thorough understanding of empowerment? Does your post go beyond a layperson's understanding of empowerment and address how empowerment can impact our work with clients?
