Problem: Sumay presented to the hospital in active labor at 39 weeks gestation. She was admitted, and a fetal monitor was used, which showed a very unstable fetal heart rate of 100-125. After physical examination, it was determined that she was fully dilated but the baby was in breech position. Sumay was instructed to begin pushing, at which time the fetal heart rate dropped. It was decided that an attempt would be made to turn the baby, but this attempt was unsuccessful. At this point, an emergency cesarean delivery was successfully performed.
