Problem: Productivity is a measure of how efficient a company's production process is. The productivity measurement takes into consideration the input and output involve in the production process. Nissan is the UK's largest car manufacturing plant, located near Sunderland on a 300-hectare former airfield. Over approximate 2.1 billion has been invested in the Sunderland site having the capability to produce up to 500,000 vehicles annually. The number of cars produced annually for every person employed, it has been Europe's most productive car plant for the past years. Since its existence from 1984, Nissan have increased the scale of its Sunderland operation, producing approximately 3.5 million cars. Production methods must be able to produce and help satisfy the want of customers in the quantities they require and the appropriate prices that they can afford. The production flow at Nissan draws on three main production shops as well as support areas which include the body shop paint shop and final assembly.
