How does phenomenology shape the counselling process

Qualitative Methods: Answer question in bold

An article by Busetto et al., (2020) was published to gain insights into each type of qualitative research method as well as how to conduct each one. You seemed to note phenomenology as your desired one based on it's purpose and your research purpose. How would the study be different if you did use ethnography or grounded theory, as you also mentioned both of these?

My research question is:

How does phenomenology, as an approach to understanding personality, shape the counselling process?

Phenomenology is the most appropriate method for researching this question (Richards, 2013). Phenomenology is an approach to understanding experiences that emphasizes subjective experiences and the meaning of an individual's experiences. Through these methods, I aim to understand the individual's experiences and perspectives on how phenomenology shapes their counselling process (Peck, 2019). I would also collect data through various sources such as documents, audio recordings, and notes taken during the interviews and observation.

The choices of my peers are also appropriate for exploring the research question (Richards, 2013). Ethnography, for example, is a qualitative research method that is well-suited for exploring the experiences of individuals in a particular culture or group. Grounded theory is another method that would be appropriate, as it is a qualitative approach that seeks to generate theory from the data collected. Both approaches allow for an understanding of how phenomenology shapes the counselling process.
