You need an annotated bibliography using 15 scholarly sources peer reviewed resources in APA citation format . One or two paragraphs per sources.
To support the Thesis :
The American Criminal Justice is racist; it does not support equality for African American and Latinos as evidenced by the racial disparities in incarceration rates in United States Prisons.
In my essay I will be writing about things like so please choose scholarly peer reviewed resources that have something to do with these topics. Also choose resources that help negate thesis to remain objective.
-slavery, Jim crow laws
-the war on drugs that aims at incarcerating African Americans males
-racial profiling
-frisk and stop
-population of African Americans in prison vs. Whites
-the criminal process and sentencing differences between African Americans and whites.
Example:
Cole, David. "The Paradox of Race and Crime: A Comment on Randall Kennedy's ‘Politics of Distinction.'" Georgetown Law Journal. Vol. 83. (September 2013)
David Cole offers a critique of Randall Kennedy's position that the criminal justice system does not discriminate against blacks as a class because high levels of black incarceration benefits one subset of the black community, the law-abiding members, while harming another subset of blacks, the law-breaking members.
As most crime is intra-racial, and the majority of blacks are law-abiding citizens, Kennedy contends increased law enforcement in the black community is a public good.
Cole claims Kennedy's argument is flawed because even an intentionally discriminatory practice, such as making it illegal only for blacks to sell crack, would have the same consequence of benefiting law-abiding African-Americans while hurting those who sell crack.
Thus, Kennedy's argument appears to lead to the conclusion that all discrimination in criminal law would be subject only to minimal scrutiny.Cole also criticizes Kennedy's article for entirely omitting any information about the impact on the black community of law enforcement or police brutality and harassment.
NOTE
An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources. Depending on your project or the assignment, your annotations may do one or more of the following.
Summarize: Some annotations merely summarize the source. What are the main arguments? What is the point of this book or article? What topics are covered? If someone asked what this article/book is about, what would you say? The length of your annotations will determine how detailed your summary is.
For more help, see our handout on paraphrasing sources.
Assess: After summarizing a source, it may be helpful to evaluate it. Is it a useful source? How does it compare with other sources in your bibliography? Is the information reliable? Is this source biased or objective? What is the goal of this source?
Reflect: Once you've summarized and assessed a source, you need to ask how it fits into your research. Was this source helpful to you?
How does it help you shape your argument? How can you use this source in your research project? Has it changed how you think about your topic?
