Assignment Problem:
Pick three of the issues discussed in class such as gender issues, family roles, blending work and family, identity development, etc. Interview an individual at least 40 years of age (a minimum of ten years older than you) who has negotiated at least three major adult transitions about the impact of the three issues you have selected to examine on each of their adult transitions. The paper will have four parts:
1. Introduction: Discussion of the three topics you have selected and a review of what we have learned about these issues and their impact from lectures and readings (be sure to include theory related information).
2. Description of the Interview: Describe the interviewee and the interview process. Continue with a discussion of the interviewee's responses to your questions. Give as much detail as possible about the transitions themselves and the impact of the three issues you have selected to examine.
3. Interpretation: Link sections 1 and 2. Discuss how the responses of your interviewee are related to your expectations based on what you have learned in class. How do your interviewee's responses compare? Are they as expected? Why or Why not?
4. Conclusions: What have you learned from the total process about the role of the issues you selected in adult transition? Make three recommendations for applications of course learning outside the classroom in either your professional or personal life. Be specific. Conclude with an integrated paragraph reflecting the learning from this experience and your conclusions about the specific adult transitions you examined.
