Problem
Parents, especially women, hold a very important place in the labor market. That is often determined by factors that are part of their identity and socioeconomic position in society. For example, compulsory heterosexuality presents obstacles for gay and lesbian parents in contemporary U.S. society. Also, single mothers face a number of problems holding positions, while struggling with childcare, specially among women of color. Give examples of three specific circumstances in which motherhood needs to be negotiated in the labor market. How do you think the COVID 19 pandemic has effected mothers and family life in general?
