Social media can be seen as powerful marketing tool for the organizations. Firms enjoy the luxury of reaching out millions of consumers on digital platforms with minimal costs. But it comes with costs as well. Especially when consumer/s detect quality issues in the products. For example, in a recent Basket Ball game between Duke University and North Carolina, Zion Williamson's (college basketball superstar) Nike sneaker split in half causing an injury to the player. The incident also prompted an outcry on social media related to the quality of the product as the company sought to figure out what caused the problem. Similar incidents happen in many organization, both manufacturing and service. Sometimes the reaction can be so severe damaging the reputation of the firms, especially top brands that boast about producing high quality products.
But firms can leverage the social media to improve product quality and even innovate? How do you think organizations can use the social media for quality improvements and innovations?
