How you present yourself as a nurse.
1.Respond to this statement from Buresh & Gordon (2000): "The paradox is that the public holds nurses in the highest regard, but has little idea of what nurses really do. The nursing profession lacks the kind of identity that would lead the public to insist that nurses are also irreplaceable" (p. 15). Include in your answer strategies for promoting an accurate portrait of nursing to the public.
2. Do you feel the author is trying to put herself in the spotlight or is she describing the essence of expert nursing care? Elaborate on your reasons for the position you take.
3.The idea of having a "voice of agency" " how might you change, if at all, the way you speak about yourself as a nurse and the work you do? Can you identify ways you could change your interaction with other nurses, patients, and physicians?
