Discussion: Leadership Skills
During a disaster or an emergency, there are many demands that are placed upon the emergency manager, other staff, and personnel. Long hours can cause fatigue, emotional instability as well as physical exhaustion. It is imperative for an emergency manager to possess quick decision-making skills, maintain composure during an event, and also be able to handle changing/emergent situations.
How do emergency managers use different leadership skills in order to cope with stressful situations? Choose one of the following: team-based, authoritative, or country club based leadership. How is one of these leadership skills applicable to disasters and disaster response?
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
