Problem: May, a stand-up comedian, is writing their will. They want to know whether the following dispositions will be valid and are seeking your advice.
a) May wishes to leave £200,000 for the purpose of caring for their family's pet cat, and all of the pet cat's descendants, for the rest of time.
b) May wishes to leave £350,000 to the Gag Bin Comedy Club for the purpose of buying a new building. The Gag Bin Comedy Club is an association of people who meet regularly to support and provide a performance venue for aspiring stand-up comedians. May would like to know what would happen if the Club dissolved after May's death.
c) May wishes to leave the residue of their estate for the purpose of building a sculpture of a theatrical mask in the likeness of Thalia, the Greek Muse of Comedy, to commemorate May's career in comedy.
May is willing to make some amendments to their will to ensure their wishes will be carried out on death. Advise May.
