Problem
During the transition to college, changes in dietary patterns, such as breakfast skipping, nutritionally inadequate food choices, and excessive energy intake, may negatively impact the cardiometabolic health of young adults. Previous research has demonstrated a positive impact of nut consumption on risks for metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. However, no intervention has examined the effects of nut consumption on health parameters among young adults, who are forming dietary habits that may persist throughout adulthood.
