Step 1: Choose Your Character
Pick one of the following characters to analyze:
- Mean Scrooge: The grumpy, miserly Scrooge we meet at the start.
- Good Scrooge: The warm-hearted, transformed Scrooge by the end.
- Jacob Marley: The ghostly figure bound by chains of his own greed.
- Ghost of Christmas Past: The spirit who takes Scrooge on a journey through his own memories.
- Ghost of Christmas Present: The jolly giant showing Scrooge the world as it is now.
- Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (Future): The eerie phantom who gives Scrooge a glimpse of what might be.
Step 2: Write Your Character Analysis
- Length Requirement: Write an extended paragraph of at least 300 words.
- Content Guidelines:
o Kick things off with a topic sentence that identifies your character and the key trait(s) you'll be focusing on.
o Provide at least three examples from the novella that show how Dickens uses appearance and description to reflect who this character really is.
o Wrap it up with a concluding statement that ties your analysis together, considering how these descriptions contribute to the overall impact of the character in the story.
o Use proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation in your paragraph.
o Ensure that your name, date, and course title (ENG 101) are included at the top of the first page.
