Assignment task:
In the conversation with my supervisor, I would acknowledge the challenge of my department's budget being reduced by 25%. I would ask if I can select where the 25% reduction comes from and find other areas to cut in order to save the language training program. If my supervisor would like to meet at another time, I would formulate a proposal to make cuts in areas like newspaper subscriptions, paper use reduction, etc. in order to save money for the language training. I would present the data on the last three staff members that returned early and detail why they felt they failed in their assignment. My goal would be to show the supervisor that our department can do more with less, but the language training and cultural training are crucial to the organization's overall success.
