Assignment task:
On January 6, 2020 a large gathering of American citizens marched on the United States Capitol Building. While there, they demonstrated against the presidential electoral results of the preceding November, A relatively small group of those people stormed the Capitol Building and attempted to enter several offices of Members of the House of Representatives and actually did enter the House chambers. The United States Capitol Police were unable to contain the protestors from entering the Capitol building, which led to the deaths of at least one protestor and several police officers. This event has been called a protest, a demonstration, an insurrection, and even an attempted coup by the former President of the United States who purportedly lost the election, depending on the observer's position on the political spectrum.
What strategic deficiencies led up to those failures? Who were the primary players (exclusive of Presidents Trump and Biden) involved and how did they contribute to this strategy failure? How could the protests/demonstrations been made avoidable?
