Problem
You and a friend are out to lunch catching up after their most recent trip they took to eastern China. Your friend mentions seeing a really cool fossil of this flower at the Nanjing Institute of Geology and Paleontology (see picture below) that is thought to be the earliest evidence of flowering plants. The fossil dates to 174 million years old!
How convenient for you that you have just learned about the geologic time scale!
Explain to your friend the time scale of that fossil by explaining how old the universe is, how old Earth is, what eon life first formed on this planet and then what eon/era/period that fossilized flower comes from. Make sure you list not only the names of those geologic divisions of time but also the time scale associated with each.
