Assignment task:

Conformity isn't necessarily a bad thing since it is something required for society to work, but making one group conform for the benefit of another is quite different. Each man talks about conformity and how it has been forced upon his race, the negative effects of this forced suppression, and why help should be offered to end the forciable conforming of African Americans. Choose one of the readings listed below and discuss how conformity plays a role in what the authors are arguing for and against. Remember to use the text for support. Use APA7 format and provide references.

Frederick Douglass: Bio; "Reconstruction"

Albion W. Tourgee: Bio; "Speech in Favor of the Letter to Joseph C. Abbott"
