How conflict of interest is a serious issue


Assignment task:

Conflict of interest is a serious issue that could force counselors to halt their work. Managers are welcomed as support systems and forced to be referees to prevent corruption. This issue allows managers to create written rules or policies before issues happen. Conflicts of interest are not illegal but could be in some circumstances. 

The most important part of a conflict of interest is learning the issue. One must know why the issue is being investigated and understand everyone's "side of the story." One must also report the issue to an ethics committee or equivalent for review (Congress et al., 2017). Situations like this can help reveal other conflicts of interest, should there be any. For example, both characters are biased if an employee gives free help to a family member and a supervisor allows it. Ensuring both persons do not participate in disciplinary action discussions is important (Congress et al., 2017).

Once the legal issues are taken care of, one must find empathy. Understanding the issues can help its resolution and a correct result. One must understand what the result wants to be and what options are available for the issue (Caspari & Caspari, 2016). For example, if no legal issues are found, a counselor and client may be unable to continue sessions together. This solution negated a dual relationship while sustaining the personal interest that the counselor has. The issue is essential, but the best way to solve the conflict of interest is to prevent it with policies and shared knowledge. For example, having a best friend work for a team one leads may be legal. However, instead of not allowing them to be one's followers, prevent one from working with or near the other (Congress et al., 2017).
