And it is no less true, that personal security and private property rest entirely upon the wisdom, the stability, and the integrity of the courts of justice.
-Joseph Story, U.S. Supreme Court Justice
One issue that deals directly with procedural justice and how it impacts the community perception is the increased use of technology by police officers. With technology continuously changing and improving, police officers are exploring new ways to use technology in the field. While some citizens do not have an issue with technology usage by police officers, others feel it is a violation of their rights and privacy. For this discussion, you will explore the issue of the increased use of technology by police officers and how it may impact the community.
Take a position. Does the increased use of technology, such as police officers using cameras and body cameras, pose a threat to civil liberties? Why or why not?
First, title your initial post either "The increased use of technology by police officers poses a threat to civil liberties" or "The increased use of technology by police officers does not pose a threat to civil liberties".
Then, make your case. Provide rationale supported by research to defend your stance.
In your response to two of your peers, identify any issues with their stance and suggest ways these issues may be addressed. Respond to one peer who has the same stance as you and one peer who has the opposite stance. Remember to always be respectful when replying to peers, even if you do not agree with their stance and/or rationale.
