How can we support the claims if they are true

Problem

The following passage is from Part Two of Rousseau's Discourse on the Origin of Inequality.

"Rousseau's attitude toward the first revolution implies that technology is the cause of inequality and the "first source of the evils prepared for [men's] descendants." I somewhat disagree with his disapproval of innovation as it cripples men's abilities. While it is true that we will become more reliant on technology, we are just more time efficient and productive in the modern world. For instance, rather than spending hours and days foraging, technology allows us to take in more nutrients within minutes, such as food delivery. Sure, we might not be as capable of hunting wild animals but our inventions provide safer and more efficient alternative methods of consuming food. Rather than calling the first revolution the first source of evil, I would consider it the first key to a sustainable lifestyle. "

Are the claims made in this passage true and if they are not true, how can they be disputed? How can we support these claims if they are true? And what is interesting about this excerpt overall?
