Purpose of Assessment

Assessment is the process of gathering and judging evidence in order to decide whether has achieved a standard or objective and it is a competency based assessment.

The purpose of this unit is to evaluate Student's ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skill to establish personal work goals, set and meet own work priorities, and develop and maintain professional competence.

Task 1:

Assessment Requirements

1. The students are required to review Adam's job description and all the policies and procedures, business plans, business goals of BDS Autoca re organization. These documents are the part of the assessments.

2. Based on Adams's job description and following BDS AUTOCARE organization's business plans, goals, and applicable policies and procedures, establish 4-5 personal goals and team goals for Adam.

In your journal, describe how personal and team goals reflect Adam's job description, the function of the team, and any organizational requirements.

3. Develop )(Pis for Adam to measure performance related to work goals.
In your journal, describe:
o How the KPIs will be used to measure goal-related performance.
o How can the performance be maintained under varying conditions and contingencies? Give specific examples.
o How, own personal strengths and weaknesses can be capitalized on or minimized the effect of these personal traits in work plans.

4. Consider a range of activities to advance work goals. Prioritize possible activities. Choose 2 work goals to develop work plans for.
In your journal, describe the process you recommend /undertake to prioritize activities. What technology can be used to prioritize the activities. Describe competing demands and how you plan to manage these to achieve goals.

5. Referring to the template provided in Appendix 1 as an example, use Microsoft Word to develop 2 work plans to achieve 2 goals you have prioritized as per job description of Adam.
In your journal describe the process of developing work plans to manage work priorities. Describe how you have used the plans to manage time efficiently.

6. In your journal, describe:
o How you will ensure you serve as a positive role model through work planning and organization.
Give examples. Describe how your work plans serve as examples to follow in your workplace.
o How you will maintain appropriate work-life balance, manage stress and maintain health.

Task 2:

Assessment Requirement

1. Assess your personal knowledge and skills against competency standards of your professional goal.
In your journal, describe the process you undertook to assess your professional competency.

2. Seek written feedback from two friends, employees, colleagues, clients or supervisors who can assess aspects of your professional competency.
In your journal, describe the process of seeking, receiving, analyzing the feedback and applying the feedback to your professional development plan.

3. Using the template provided in Appendix 2, develop a professional development plan (you can make your own template as well). You should include:
o Liaise with your Colleague/ Manager/Friend /Mentor/Assessor to explore the opportunities of professional development and their implementations.
o Development opportunities such as training. Include opportunities to undertake within 1 year and within 5 years.
o Identify, evaluate, select and use development opportunities suitable to personal learning style/s to develop competence
o New skills you aim to acquire to achieve or maintain a competitive edge
o Planned participation in networks or professional associations to enhance professional development
o Timeframes in which to achieve development opportunities, new skills, participation in networks
In your journal, you should discuss:
o The process you undertook to identify, evaluate and select the development opportunities included in your professional development plan. Discuss learning styles and application to your planning
o New skills you plan to acquire. Explain how acquiring these skills will provide a competitive edge.
o Examples of networking you have undertaken or are currently undertaking to enhance knowledge, skills or work relationships

Task 3:

Assessment Objective
This assessment task is to provide you with the knowledge of managing personal work priorities and professional development.
Timeframe for Assessment Tasks

Student instructions
- Provide answers to the following questions.

- Type the answers in a word document.
- Students can take the assessment at home and complete it but need to submitted as per the due date on the time table.
- Ask your assessor if you do not understand a question. Whist your assessor cannot tell you the answer, he/she may be able to re-word the question for you.

Assessment 2:

Successful completion of three assessment tasks will contribute to the competency attainment of the following unit:
BSBMGT516 Facilitate Continuous Improvement in Diploma of Automotive Management (AUR50116).

Task 1:

Assessment Objective

You must demonstrate knowledge of continuous improvement systems.

Questions:

Question 1: Define and explain the purpose of TOM.

Question 2: What elements within a manufacturing environment need to be reduced or eliminated as part of a Lean Manufacturing focus?

Question 3: What is 'Five S' and what are the five disciplines? Provide an example of using each 'S' to reduce waste in the workplace.

Task 2:

Assessment instructions

Scenario: You are a manager of a workplace with the strategic goal of either increasing productivity or customer service measures by 10% within 12 months. if you are not currently employed in a capacity to obtain the required information or are unable to access a workplace you may use the strategic gaol of increasing customer service measures at Brighton Institute by 10%. Your trainer and assessor will provide you access to the relevant BIT workplace documents. For operational and privacy reasons SOME non
essential data may be deleted. The student will manage and/or work with a team of people from the workplace, not the training program, to provide access to and understanding of current workplace goals, strategies and plans. The student will need to evaluate the data and make recommendations to change processes and undertake further monitoring to identify further opportunities for improvement.

This assessment should he commenced at the start of the unit. As the manager, you are required to coordinate a team to:
identify organisational functioning issues that are resulting. in lower productivity than desired or customer satisfaction results lower than desired
analyse the problems:

- use continuous improvement techniques to analyse the continuous improvement system in the workplace

- develop continuous improvement strategies to address the performance issues and these strategies may include, but are not limited to, improving:

- performance measurement and management

- job roles and clarity of expectations

- rewards and recognition communication systems ensuring team members are informed of continuous improvement efforts

- training and development

- effective mentoring and buddy systems

- develop an action/implementation plan to implement the strategy

training/coaching for people who will undertake the measurements (ensure you use a range of methods to cater for different learning styles).

Meeting 1
Organise a meeting with team members and explain the project parameters. Inform members of the results of your qualitative analysis. Seek feedback and generate ideas for possible actions and further monitoring. Record the minutes in the template provided.

a. Identify performance management/training/role clarity/planning/ communication/reward/recognition problems by brainstorming with the team members.

b. Document the problems using the problem definition statement template. Identify methods of measuring and quantifying those issues with the team. Methods may include but are not limited to:
i. check-sheets
ii. process maps
iii. customer service surveys
iv. employee surveys.

Collect the data to quantify the problem
How big is the problem? Record initial state using data, diagrams, photos, KPIs. In some cases, incident reports, audit reports, customer and employee surveys may provide details of the initial state.

a. Provide appropriate tools to your team and organise them to collect data as required.

Analyse the data
Analyse the data collected to quantify your qualitative evaluation - quantifying will assist prioritisation of possible solutions.

Meeting 2
Reconvene with your team. Present the analysis of data and seek feedback.

a. Refine the problem definition statements on the template provided. Develop possible strategies that could provide solutions using appropriate tools such as force field analysis, cause and effect diagrams and brainstorming. Determine prioritisation criteria and prioritise solutions using a decision matrix (template provided).

b. Develop a course of action including a communication strategy and obtain affirmation from the group of the proposed course of action.

Strategy document
Prepare a strategy document. The strategy document should include appropriate reference to current state, goals, future state, stakeholders, ':Pis, costs and benefits. Submit this to your sponsor and stakeholders for approval.
